Who we are
Shrewsbury Street Pastors is part of the national Street Pastors movement, an initiative of the Ascension Trust. Our trained volunteers, drawn from local churches, have been caring for the night-time community for years — listening, helping and offering practical care to anyone who needs it, whoever they are.
What happens on a patrol
Teams walk the town centre on patrol nights — talking with people, handing out water, flip-flops and hot drinks, clearing bottles and glass, and staying with anyone vulnerable until they're safe. We work alongside the police, door staff and local support services.
Common questions
Do you only help Christians?
No — we help anyone, without conditions. We're Christians offering practical care, not looking for converts.
Are you connected to the police?
We work alongside the police and door staff, but we're independent — our role is simply to care, listen and help.
What training do volunteers get?
Every Street Pastor completes the Ascension Trust training programme, including safeguarding and first aid awareness.
